How we protect and handle your personal information at Brainiaxen Edge
Effective Date: January 15, 2025 | Last Updated: January 15, 2025
Who We Are
Brainiaxen Edge operates from Owen Sound, Ontario, providing iOS and Android app development services to businesses across Canada. We're bound by Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and we take that responsibility seriously.
When you work with us or visit our website, you're trusting us with information about yourself and your business. This policy explains exactly what we do with that trust – and what we don't do.
Information We Collect
We collect information in a few different ways, depending on how you interact with us:
Direct from you: When you fill out contact forms, email us, or discuss project requirements, we collect things like your name, business details, contact information, and project specifications. If you're enrolling in our learning program, we'll need additional details about your educational background and goals.
- Website usage data through standard analytics (pages visited, time spent, general location)
- Technical information like IP addresses, browser types, and device information
- Communication records when you email or call us
- Project files and business information you share during development work
- Payment information processed through secure third-party providers
How We Use Your Information
Everything we collect serves specific purposes related to providing you with better service. We use your information to deliver the app development services you've requested, communicate about your projects, and handle the business side of our relationship.
For our learning program participants, we track progress and provide personalized feedback. We might also analyze usage patterns to improve our website and services – but this is always done with aggregated, non-personal data.
We don't use your information for marketing unless you specifically opt in. We're not in the business of bombarding people with emails they don't want.
Information Sharing
We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Period. However, there are a few limited situations where we might share information:
- With trusted service providers who help us deliver services (payment processors, cloud storage providers, analytics tools)
- When required by Canadian law or to respond to legal processes
- To protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others
- In the unlikely event of a business sale or merger (with advance notice to you)
Any third parties we work with are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the specific services they provide to us.
Your Rights Under Canadian Law
As a Canadian business, we respect your rights under PIPEDA and provincial privacy legislation. You have the right to know what information we have about you, request corrections to inaccurate information, and ask us to delete your data in many circumstances.
You can withdraw consent for us to use your information at any time, though this might affect our ability to provide certain services. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you're not satisfied with how we handle your concerns.
To exercise any of these rights, just email us at support@brainiaxenedge.com. We'll respond within 30 days and won't charge you for reasonable requests.
Data Security
We protect your information using industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission, secure server configurations, and limited access controls. Our development work often involves handling sensitive business information, so security isn't just a legal requirement – it's essential to our business.
However, no system is completely secure. While we do everything reasonable to protect your information, we can't guarantee absolute security. We'll notify you promptly if we discover any security breach that might affect your personal information.
Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as necessary for the purposes we collected it. For active projects, this means throughout the development process and for a reasonable period afterward to handle support issues. For learning program participants, we retain academic records for several years to provide transcripts and references.
Marketing information is deleted when you unsubscribe. Website analytics data is typically retained for two years. Business communication records are kept for seven years to meet Canadian business requirements.
Cookies and Website Technology
Our website uses standard web technologies including cookies to improve your experience. Most of these are essential for basic website functionality. We also use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use our site, but these don't identify you personally.
You can control cookie settings through your browser, though disabling certain cookies might affect website functionality. We don't use tracking cookies for advertising purposes.
International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers (like cloud storage and analytics tools) may store data outside Canada, including in the United States. When this happens, your information is subject to the laws of those countries, which may provide different privacy protections than Canadian law.
We only work with providers who offer adequate protection for personal information and have appropriate safeguards in place.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email if we have your contact information, or through a prominent notice on our website.
Minor updates might be posted without individual notification, so we encourage you to review this policy periodically. The "Last Updated" date at the top shows when the most recent changes were made.
